My first “Blue Cave
It is one of the few sea caves in the world where you can easily visit. The Ao no Tsubute (Blue Cave) is located at Cape Maeda in Onna Village on the west coast of Okinawa Prefecture, where the water is crystal clear and tropical fish are abundant. There are two ways to get to the Blue Cave.
- ■How to enter the water from the beach
- Walk from the rocky point at Cape Maeda to the water entry point. The stairs leading down to the point of entry into the water are well maintained, but be careful, as they are steep and slippery. The “Blue Cave” is about a 10-minute swim from the entry point.
- ■How to enter the water by boat
- We will take a boat from the harbor at Maeganeku, Onna Village, and enter the water in the shallows nearby. After explanation and practice, we will head for the “Blue Cave. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the “Blue Cave” from the entry point.
